UIM MOTOSURF ENTERS SPORTS PROGRAMME OF THE WORLD GAMES 2025 IN CHENGDU

We are delighted to announce the participation of the UIM in the 12th edition of The World Games to take place in Chengdu, People’s Republic of China, in August 2025. It is the first time Powerboating is represented in The World Games, and it is the MotoSurf Discipline that will carry the flag of the UIM in Chengdu.

MotoSurf is the youngest discipline of the International Powerboat Federation, and it has been experiencing rapid growth since its integration in the UIM in 2019, when an agreement was signed with the Promoter of the MotoSurf World Cup during the UIM General Assembly in Qingdao, China, to organize this sport henceforth in line with the institutional rules that characterize the presence and role of the UIM within the Olympic movement.

The categories that will feature on the programme of the 2025 World Games in Chengdu are “MotoSurf Single Men” and “MotoSurf Single Women”, as well as “MotoSurf Nations Cup” (Team).

The annual UIM MotoSurf World Championship consists of a minimum of 5 Rounds, organized around the world. The next event on schedule is Round 3 in Bastad, Sweden, from 11th to 13th August 2023.

UIM President Raffaele Chiulli underlined that: “This is a historic moment for the UIM, and I am proud to see the youngest discipline of the UIM joining The World Games. We will take this opportunity to share the excitement of sustainable powerboating sport with the global audience.”

The MotoSurf World Championship Promoter Martin Jančálek added: “MotoSurf has become a very complex sports platform and we believe it has its place at The World Games. We cannot wait to see all the MotoSurf athletes from all over the world to wave the flag of powerboating sport at this historical moment.”
