Zahorsky becomes 6 time Champion, Minseong Kim brings Stock title to Korea and Matouskova reigns Women Class.
The UIM MotoSurf World Championship 2023 finals in Zadar, Croatia, broke a record in number of participating riders and the Falkensteiner Campsite welcomed incredible amount of 120 racers coming from 20 different countries.
The Championship was still wide open and we were very much looking forward what is going to happen in the Open Class where Lukas Zahorsky fought with Alex Lukscheider for the championship title.
Lukscheider fought hard but Zahorsky marked a strong quali after scoring the qualifying victory by just 15 thousands of a second over Alex and both of the riders swept the heats for full points score.
On Sunday, choppy water just prepared sea conditions that played in favor of Lukas Zahorsky. He managed to control both finals and decided about the title – his six title to become the winningest rider of all times.
After the race, Lukas Zahorsky, announced his farewell from open class after taking his sixth championship glory.
In the women Class, the competition was very intense between Eliska Matouskova and Aneta Stloukalova. Eliska came to Croatia with 13 points advantage and Eliska didn’t leave any room. Her amazing speed even saved her Heat crash as she still managed to close the gap and win this heat. In the Finals, Eliska managed to go for 1st and 2nd in the finals as Aneta Stloukalova claimed 3rd and 1st . After a long time reigning of Aneta Sacherova, Eliska Matouskova became the new women class MotoSurf World Champion.
Stock class saw close battles for the Championship podium. The class even welcomed a newcomer well known from the MotoSurf Games in USA – Canadian racer Anthony Mestroni.
However, Championship leader Minseong Kim was controlling his gap in the championship finishing 4th after the heats and 8th and 3rd in the finals were perfectly enough to secure the world championship title.
However, two other racers in the field raced their race of lifetime. Timotej Zubor swept the finals for 1st and 1stas American speedster Antony Squire finished 2nd and 2nd and marked another podium finish.
In the Championship, Minseong Kim defended the title as Timotej Zubor claimed 2nd and a great points scoring weekend secured 3rd place overall for Antony Squire.
In the Stock Merlin Plus Class – Oliver Navara was the man to beat as Alexander Lanner and Renzo de Craze kept fighting for the podium in the Championship. However, Adam Ficek surprised the field with amazing speed and controlled the race for maiden victory. Alexander Lanner finished 2nd and Oliver Navara completed the podium in 3rd.
Oliver Navara concluded the season on top and Alexander Lanner managed to defend vice-champion position and Renzo de Crane finished in 3rd.
In the Junior Boys, Kuwaiti duo Fares Ramadhan and Hamad Alhaddad finished 1st and 2nd respectively. Sebastian Kostelecky claimed 3rd.
In junior Girls, the whole competition got under control of Slovakia. Emma Strculova became the Junior Girls World Championship from Zara Kubincova in second and Sara Zuborova in 3rd.
Electric challenge – Michal Skocek came to Zadar as the championship leader followed by Alain Coppens and Julien Raynaud.
In the weekend, the qualifying was taken by Yannick Strazzieri from France and the Electric Challenge expected interesting plot to develop.
Before the finals, Michal Skoček announced withdrawing from the GP due to pain in his back and this move opened the doors for Alain Coppens who then became the World Champion in the Electric Challenge. Julien Raynaud from France claimed 2nd and unfortunate Michal Skoček ended up in 3rd.
The weekend in Zadar closed the 2023 campaign and the whole championship is now ready to kick off the 2024 season in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates in April.
