Zahorsky strikes back as Minseong Kim and Aneta Stloukalova retake the Championship lead.

Bastad – fabulous destination in southern Sweden hosted the third round of the UIM MotoSurf World Championship.

Riders from all over the world came to compete for the championship points and it was a blast as the Championship is turning into a drama ahead of the final race in Croatia. In the open Class, we saw intense moments as the championsip leader Alex Lukscheider faced technical issues and experienced a difficult weekend. On the other hand, Jakub Kornfeil and Lukas Zahorsky both raced in great pace to make a huge championship opportunity from the Swedish weekend.

 

Zahorsky dominated both finals and sweeped Sunday program, Jakub  Kornfeil claimed overall 2nd and Matyas Novotny scored his premiere world championship podium in the open class. Stock Class racing action was a blast – Minseong Kim came back strong after unfortunate weekend in Italy and scored first and second for the overall victory. Strong weekend in Sweden made Minseong a new championship leader heading to the final round of the Championship in Croatia.

His compatriot Down Kim – reigning world champion – made his way back on the podium after scoring 4th and 1st in the finals. American racer Antony Squire scored second consecutive podium. After Italian glory, likeable American scored 2nd and 4th in Sweden for 3rd place overall. In the Merlin Plus Stock R class, home racer Alexander Lanner kept Swedish hopes high aiming for the podium on his home soil.

Oliver Navara – championship leader managed to control both finals and ended up victorious. For the second podium step, we saw a big battle between Alexander Lanner and Renzo De Craene from Belgium. After both of the finals, It was the home rider who could celebrate the second spot in front of Renzo de Craene from Belgium.

In the women class, the two rivals in the Championship – Aneta Stloukalova and Eliska Matouskova fought hard for every single available point. Aneta Stloukalova showed flawless weekend with two victories on Sunday. Eliska Matouskova followed Aneta the whole weekend but experienced unfortunate moment in the first finals when got penalized for incorrect buoy passing that relegated her down to 5th. Second place in the second shootout meant 3rd place overally. Another Eliska in the mix, Eliska Charousova, managed to squeeze among the podium finishers when finished 2nd.

In the Junior boys, we saw Kuwait dominance seeing Ramadhan Fares on top followed by his compatriot Hamad Alhadad. Czech racer Adam Kolar closed the race in 3rd and scored his premiere podium. Junior Girls class weekend was under full control of three Slovakian girls. Emma Strculova stepped up on the top step while Sara Zuborova and Zara Kubincova concluded the GP of Sweden in second and third respectively.

In the Electric Challenge, we witnessed a premiere victroy of Frenchman Julien Raynaud racing for Nauderay Surf Motorisé. Czech racer Patrick Nalepa finished 2nd in front of the championship leader Michal Skoček who leaves Sweden tied on pioints in the championship with his rival Alain Coppens from Belgium.

The championship is still available and we cannot wait to see the season decider in Zadar, Croatia on 6th – 8th October 2023.
