Or Yanai – hero comeback!

The glorious weather conditions, delicous food and positive vibes – that was the 1st local race of the year in Cancún. Marina Chac Chi was a fantastic venue to host the first race of Mexican Championship.

The race in Mexico was held in traditional Moto Surf schedule and offered men and women class racing among buoys of beautiful Cancún beach. True hero of the weekend was Or Yanai coming back on board after a year recovery process. Or suffered a nasty leg fracture and his performance deserves huge respect for taking 2nd overally. All the fans could enjoy breathtaking battles with the finals winner, the “Mexican shark“ – Juan Pablo Urquidi. After 4 heats, both the riders equaled on points, the final decision went all into the finals. The second final round delivered an answer even before the checkered flag. Or Yanai experienced two crashes and made the way clear to Juan Pablo Urquidi. Consistency was the key for the 3rd spot and it was Dana Lundquist going for this goal. Smart and stable performance brought likeable American on the podium and underlined his respectable performance.

Women class saw domination of Aneta Šacherová, who topped all heats & finals. Spectacular battle for 2nd place between Renka Kelemenová and home girl Andrea de Urquidi ended better for Renka. Andrea’s unfortunate crash in second final weakened the Mexican surfer who eventually grabbed 3rd spot.

The next round of the Mexican Championship takes place in La Paz on 14th – 15th April.
