Jakub Kornfeil sets the pace in Slovakia
Reigning Motosurfing World champion Jakub Kornfeil concluded the qualifying practice for the MotoSurf WorldCup race at Zlaté Piesky in Slovakia as a man to beat.
Czech Jetsurf factroy rider found the fastest rythm around the course and made it top stopping the clock on 51:68. However, such a close pace among the top five riders will make the race even more interesting.
Mexico qualifying winner Jan Charouz was second just 0.2 seconds behind the championship leader Kornfeil. Third spot belongs to Jetsurf founder Martin Šula whose 51.92 is a pretty competitive beginning for the Slovakian round. Šula needs to be aware of another rider aiming to repeat the podium from Mexico – Ivo Strouhal and his personal best of 51.94 means 4th on Friday programme. Lukáš Záhorský closed the top five pushing the gap off the winner under a second. His 52.63 will give the Czech teenage rider a great basement to build up a consistent performance. The fastest Slovakian rider was Sebastion Kubinec who finished 10th.
Jakub Kornfeil: “The pace was so close today. I think we saw the closest Jetsurf qualifying ever. We had two laps to do our best. Unfortunately, I crashed just in the first corner of my first lap so had to stay concentrated even more in the rest of my session. Despite my careful ride, I managed to be fastest today which is great and I can’t wait for the race tomorrow.“
Aneta Šacherová dominates the women‘s category
Ladies on Jetsurfs attracted the spectators close to Slovakian capital as well today. Jetsurf factory rider Aneta Šacherová dominated the female category and remained the only rider pushing the fastest lap under one minute. The 59.32 gives her a pole sitter position for tomorrow’s race. Debut and a second place, what a day for home girl Renata Kelmenová who rode so well to reach 1:00.74. The Cancún race winner Ale Rivas completed the top three with 1:01.55.
Aneta Šacherová: “I’m so happy for my today’s performance that was pretty much the same as Jakub’s. Anyways, I was able to set a fast lap and remain the only rider under one minute which is great. However, the race is always about consistency and endurance so I will have to be concentrated as much as I can to avoid mistakes.“
