Next stop: Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia. MSWC returns in style!
After a one-year absence, the UIM MotoSurf WorldCup heads to another round of the Championship. This time to the Asian continent and the sports capital of Russia – Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan.
The city of Kazan welcomes in total around 50 riders from 7 different countries on the river of Kazanka. Warm and sunny weather forecast greets the riders back in Kazan for the second time with the three-days event held from the 28th to the 30th of August. Hosting the riders from all over the world, Europe will be represented by Czech Republic, Slovakia, Belgium and Russia, Asian representative came all the way from South Korea and India. The USA flag will be carried by recent MotoSurf Games winner Jordan Davlin from Texas.
All the riders competing on motorized surfboards will face the river of Kazanka for the first time on Saturday scheduled Free practice sessions and Qualifyings, then the action continues with three heats on Sunday fighting for the highest rank and close up by the Finals on Monday alongside the famous festival of the Day of Kazan.
The one to watch is definitely Nikolas Blaha from the Czech Republic, who claimed two victories in the previous races in the category Open and leads the Championship by 29 points ahead of the 2019 World Champion Lukáš Záhorský. Besides 9 Russian riders we can also look forward to see Jordan Davlin – winner of the MotoSurf Games in Sebring, Florida and currently the fastest rider on the American continent. Jonghoon Lee, Down Kim and Haemi Lee are looking forward to fight hard for South Korea. Belgium has its strong presence too as Laureen Thellin is looking to continue her Kazan podium hopes alongside her compatriot Alain Coppens – off-shore powerboating World Champion. MotoSurf is a worldwide sport and welcomes Indian team Aliasgar Calcutawalla from Mumbai, India. Aneta Šacherová is the one who leads the Women Class with amazing performances from the first two races in Czech Republic and Belgium.
Unstoppable young lady, Eliška Matoušková, proves her form by winning the first round of MSWC in Jedovnice as well as her main rival Linda Lukscheider taking the highest position in Belgium. There is no doubt these two girls come up with the fight for the highest rank again! Category Rookies is full of talented kids who set up the higher level of performances year by year. The leader of the Championship Alex Lukscheider and his biggest rival Matyáš Novotný are about to shine on the water again!
Besides the classic petrol-powered boards, there is one special class filled in – Electric Challenge which is first ever full electric competition in the field of powerboating. Due to different format of racing – head-to-head battle consists of 8 riders that will keep the battle for the Championship title. Spectators can expect thrilling racing and really close overtakes during whole competition.
With two more rounds scheduled for the 2021 season remainder, MSWC, Martin Jančálek (champoinship Director) talks about the event in Kazan: „I feel honoured we could make the race happen even under such worldwide difficult circumstances.
