Záhorský and Bravencová took their first 2017 victories in Russia

St. Petersburg, Russia was the venue of action for MotoSurf World Cup 2017 second round. Riders and spectators couldn’t hope for any better spot to come. City Center of the magnificent Russian city brought the racing course close to the world’s famous Peter and Paul Fortress.

Frejus winner Jakub Kornfeil was not starting in Russia, but other two podium finishers from the French round were ready to fight. Lukáš Záhorský from the MSR Engines Racing Team and Jetsurf Slovakia’s Sebastian Kubinec were pushing hard in their heats. Záhorský topped both of his rounds while Kubinec finished 2nd in his group. Like a storm was riding the World Cup rookie Jan Drkoš who won his heats group equalled on points with Kubinec.

A big surprise of the whole weekend was Jetsurf USA’s Petr Vencovský. Top 5 contender in France, Petr put his performance to another level in Russia and left a strong mark in the qualifying posting the fastest laptime. FOX as he is known in the paddock, kept it up also in the heats and ruled his heat group. His fight with Michal Lošťák was just fantastic but Vencovský managed to gain the victory at the end.

The finals came up and there were many riders with a real victory claim targets. It was Lukáš Záhorský who managed to be the strongest on River Neva and took his first 2017 victory after many breathtaking overtaking maneouvres with Sebastian Kubinec who eventually lost the head to head battle. Petr FOX Vencovský made it on the podium for Jetsurf USA in 3rd and stood on the MotoSurf WorldCup podium for the very first time in his carieer.

Girls were doing amazing job on such a difficult course. Defending 2016 champion Aneta Šacherová dominated the qualifying ahead of Alita Rivas returning to top. Martina Lukscheider went her best weekend so far taking 3rd place in the qualifying. Victory contender Martina Bravencová entered the weekend with bad luck being disqualified from the qualifying after missing one of the buoeys. What a tough call for the heat for Symbio+ Jetsurf rider.

At the end, It was Martina the happiest girl in the paddock. Despite starting last due to qualifying, she managed to win both her heats and so the finals. Overall victory went to their hands and she won her premiere round in jetsurfing career so far. She was a true hero of the weekend! MSR Engines Racing Team’s Aneta Šacherová came 2nd to collect some important points to the championship. We could see a real happiness in eyes of Mexican rider Ale Rivas representing Jetsurf USA team. It’s has been almost a year Alita tasted the podium for the last time. She just underlined a successfull weekend for Jetsurf USA Team.
